Week 7 of the National Women's Football League (NWFL) brings the spotlight to the Development League North, where teams will clash in the 7v7 format. Hosted by the Caledonia Chaos, this week's fixtures promise thrilling action as teams strive to end their seasons on a high note.

Newcastle Shieldmaidens (1-5) vs Caledonia Chaos (6-0) – 11 am

The Caledonia Chaos have already secured the division title, cementing their dominance with an impressive unbeaten record of 6-0. As they host this final tournament, the Chaos will be eager to maintain their perfect season. Their dominance raises the question: will they take the confidence from this season to make the step up to the National League next year?

The Newcastle Shieldmaidens, who surprised the league by defeating the Cheshire Bears 14-0 in their last tournament, aim to continue their momentum. To overtake the Bears in the standings, Newcastle needs either to win both of their games or secure a massive 60-point victory over the Bears to win the head-to-head tiebreaker. Their previous encounter with the Chaos ended in a 57-0 defeat, highlighting the challenge they face.

The Cheshire Bears are looking to finish their season on a positive note. Despite a tough season, they are motivated to avenge their previous loss to Newcastle. A win against the Shieldmaidens is crucial for the Bears to secure their place in the end-of-season cross-conference tournament. The Bears will also aim to avoid a repeat of their 14-0 defeat in their last meeting.

In the final game of the day, the Caledonia Chaos take on the Cheshire Bears. The Chaos dominated their last encounter, winning 35-8, and will be looking to replicate that performance. For the Bears, this game is an opportunity to challenge the undefeated champions and end their season on a high. It will also be a test of their resilience and strategy as they face the formidable Chaos once more.

The offseason decisions for these teams regarding a potential move to the 9v9 format will be influenced by their performances in this final tournament. Each team will evaluate their readiness and potential for the next level.
