This Saturday, the NWFL Development Leagues promise thrilling action as teams in both the North and South Divisions gear up for key matchups. In the North Division, the Cheshire Bears host a tournament in Tattenhall, Cheshire, where they will face off against the Newcastle Shieldmaidens and the undefeated Caledonia Chaos. Meanwhile, the South Division sees the Norwich Devils welcoming the Kent Exiles, Hertfordshire Cheetahs, and Cardiff Valkyries to Norwich for another round of intense competition.

NWFL Development Leagues

North

Newcastle Shieldmaidens (0-2) vs Cheshire Bears (1-1) – 11 am

Caledonia Chaos (2-0) vs Newcastle Shieldmaidens (0-2) – 1 pm

Cheshire Bears (1-1) vs Caledonia Chaos (2-0) – 3 pm

The Shieldmaidens, a new team in the league, had a tough start but will be eager to learn from their initial experiences and make their mark by getting on the scoreboard. Cheshire Bears, having already matched their win tally from last year, will be looking to leverage their home advantage to secure another victory and improve their standing.

At 1 pm, the undefeated Caledonia Chaos (2-0) take on the Newcastle Shieldmaidens. Caledonia has shown exceptional form, not conceding a single point and averaging 37 points per game in their first tournament. Their defensive and offensive prowess will be a significant challenge for the Shieldmaidens, who will be aiming to find a way to break through Caledonia's robust defence.

The final matchup at 3 pm features a clash between the hosts Cheshire Bears and Caledonia Chaos. This game is pivotal for the Bears, who will be seeking to avenge their previous loss to Caledonia and prove they can compete with the top team in the division. For Caledonia, a victory here would solidify their position as firm favourites to win the division, but the travel down to Tattenhall may test their consistency.

South

Kent Exiles (2-0) vs Hertfordshire Cheetahs (1-1) – 12 pm

Norwich Devils (0-2) vs Cardiff Valkyries (1-1) – 12 pm

Kent Exiles (2-0) vs Cardiff Valkyries (1-1) – 2 pm

Norwich Devils (0-2) vs Hertfordshire Cheetahs (1-1) – 2 pm

The Kent Exiles and Hertfordshire Cheetahs will be meeting for the sixth time since 2022, with Kent winning four of their last five encounters. Leading the division after the first tournament, Kent is in strong form and will aim to maintain their dominance over Hertfordshire. The Cheetahs, however, will be keen to even the score and build on their performance from the previous tournament.

Simultaneously, Norwich Devils will be looking for their first win of the season against Cardiff Valkyries. This will be the first meeting between these two teams, and the Devils are hoping to capitalise on their home advantage to turn their season around. Cardiff faces a long journey to Norwich, which could impact their performance, but they will be motivated after a mixed start to the season.

At 2 pm, the Kent Exiles go up against the Cardiff Valkyries. Kent previously defeated Cardiff 21-8 in the first tournament, and they will aim to replicate that success. Cardiff, on the other hand, will be looking for revenge and to improve their standing in the division.

Also at 2 pm, the Norwich Devils face off against the Hertfordshire Cheetahs. Hertfordshire beat Norwich 27-10 in the first tournament, marking a significant shift in their rivalry as Norwich had won three times against Hertfordshire last season. Both teams will be eager to assert their dominance and gain crucial points in the division.
